Excellent surface finishes can be achieved with standard insert in combination with one or more wiper inserts. Wiper inserts work most usefully at a high feed per revolution, “fn” in large diameter cutter with extra close pitch and setting facilities.
- When “fn” exceeds 80% of the length of the parallel land, “bs”, on standard inserts, a wiper edge will improve the surface.
- A wiper land protrudes below the milling inserts by approximately 0.05mm, when mounted in cutter with fixed insert seats.
